exterminate house mice with Gilmer pest control

Our Services: Rats and Mice

Rats and mice can be pests in more than one way. Not only do rodents carry diseases, but they also can contaminate not only the food that they eat but other food in the house as well. While some people may think of mice as being less of a threat than rats, the truth is from a health perspective, neither rodent should be allowed to remain inside of a living environment. As professional pest control services company, we at Bizzy Bee in Gilmer can not only remove these pests, but can help guide you to make sure that the chances of any others coming in the future is dramatically reduced. We don’t like the wording in this sentence. We can control and eliminate.

TYPES OF RATS AND MICE

House Mouse

The House Mouse is a small rodent characteristically having a pointed snout, small rounded ears and a long naked or almost hairless tail.  House Mice can transmit diseases, contaminate food and damage food packaging.  Lymphocytic Choriomeningitis (LCMV) can be transmitted by mice but is not a commonly reported infection in people.  There is some concern that women should not be infected with LCMV during pregnancy.

Roof Rat

Also known as the Black Rat and Ship Rat, a typical Roof Rat is 5-7 inches long with a tail 6-10 inch tail. Roof Rats exhibits several colors. It is usually black to light brown in color with a lighter underside. Roof Rats serve as outstanding vectors for transmittance of diseases because they have the ability to carry bacteria and viruses in their system. There are a number of bacterial diseases that are common to Roof Rats and include Streptococcus Pneumonia, Strptovacillus maonioforms (Rat Bait Fever) and Bacillus pillformis to name a few. All of these bacteria are disease causing agents in humans and in some cases, these diseases are incurable.

Norway Rat

Also known as the Brown Rat, Common Rat, Street Rat, Sewer Rat or Wharf Rat, this is one of the best known and most common rats. It is a brown or grey rodent with a body of up to 10 inches long and a similar tail length. Norway Rats may carry a number of pathogens, which can result in disease, including Weil’s disease, rat bite fever, and viral hemorrhagic fever. Norway Rats can also serve as a reservoir for the parasite that causes Toxoplasmosis, though the disease usually spreads from rats to humans when domestic cats feed on infected Norway Rats.
